Route 66 | Day 10
Today we will try to escape the hordes of tourists by visiting two places that are off the mainstream travel radar, yet equally beautiful.
If we tried to resemble them with teams in a football match, then Goosenecks and Valley of the Gods would definitely be the outsider vs Horseshoe Bend and Monument Valley. However, I strongly urge you to visit them both and decide whether they stand a chance to score in your hearts, like they did in ours!
You can read more about these unique places on the dedicated post I have created about the most beautiful US National Parks that you should not miss while on your Route 66 trip here.
And of course we will not leave the area without paying our respects at the Forrest Gump Point, the place where Forrest stopped running at the end of the movie!!!
Straight after we will head to our next destination, Page, where an unexpected surprise awaits for us!!!
Arriving at Page we had some difficulty in finding (affordable) accommodation, yet the owner of a fully booked motel suggested a home-stay solution that had been the absolute gem of our entire trip! Ray, our host, was a wonderful man and a fisherman of choice after getting retired! He was staying with his warm-hearted wife, the “catch” of his life, in a beautiful house that was overlooking Lake Powel! And that was our 5 star accommodation for our overnight in Page!

Route 66 | Day 11
Starting our day with a huge breakfast prepared by our lovely host, to keep us strong for the strenuous schedule that would follow!
Visiting Horseshoe Bend, Lower Antelope Canyon and Grand Canyon all in one day!!! And off we go…
